Josh started climbing at the age of 14. He joined a climbing team and trained and competed for 5
years. Then suddenly stopped climbing due to a busy life and a full time job as an electrician.
But he needed to fill the void he was deeply missing in his life at the time. Now that Josh has been back in it for 4 years he can’t stop moving forward. With competition on his mind he trains
and pushes himself to complete exhaustion. Josh also pushes himself outdoors with
his main focus on putting up FA’s and working on finding new problems and areas. He is
dedicated and ready to take on any adventure, comp or job in the climbing industry. Josh is
highly regarded in the world of route setting with his position at MetroRock and setting for Dark
Josh has been competing for 5 years and that comes with a focused approach to the sport. With
top finishes at indoor competition and attending World Cups across the globe, Josh has
represented the East coast try hard attitude.
Some top finishes include:
1st place at the UBC Championship in 2012
13th at ABS Nationals in 2012
13th at ABS Nationals in 2014
19th at the Vail Bouldering World Cup in 2012
Top ranked US male (23rd overall) at the Canadian World Cup in 2011.
With many other top 3 ranked comps Josh is taking his competitions seriously with nutrition, fitness trainers and a planned schedule for training.
Josh is ready to push forward and challenge himself this coming year
with harder lines. Finding new unclimbed boulders is what gets Josh psyched. He loves FA’s
more than ticking off a “number” and with that comes newer and cooler lines in the New
England area. Josh’s approach to outdoor climbing is aggressive and tactful and he follows his
psych to the next adventure.
Josh is based out of Boston, Ma and spends his time setting, coaching at MetroRock,
training for competitions and is always in search of new lines in the New England area.
Josh also works for RockWerx (climbing wall design and construction)
and teaches climbing across the country. Future plans for 2013 include - A 100 day media/climbing tour of North America. Stopping at ten locations, for ten days with a life style story after each one. A very full year of setting for the Dark Horse Series and training for ABS Nationals in 2014!
